Travis playing drums with the Boredoms as part of a massive 77-drummer freakout concert: 77 BOADRUM.

Travis (who normally drums for DraculaZombieUSA, The Unsacred Hearts and the Two Man Gentlemen Band , amongst others [most recently Taxi Taxi]) is participating in a gigantic project put on by legendary Japanese noise-makers the BOREDOMS and will be smacking his man-tubs along with 76 other tub-smackers and in front of 4000 nice people on Saturday 7/7/07. The 77 drummers will join BOREDOMS drummers YOSHIMI, YOJIRO and SENJU, alongside with 77BOADRUM mastermind EYE on electronics, effects, and vocals. A live sculpture built of musicians, BOREDOMS stand at the center as 77 drummers on full 5-piece, 3-cymbal drum kits snake around them in spirals, like the coils of a boa constrictor. The musical director is Hisham Baroocha (Pixeltan, former Black Dice, Lightning Bolt).

Space is limited at the event (only 4000!) so RSVP here immediately!

Here's what CMJ wrote about it:
Revered Japanesee avant-noise rockers Boredoms have set plans for 77BOADRUM, the most ambitious and visionary performance of their two- decade-plus career. Presented by JELLYNYC and Vice on July 7 (as in 07/07/07), the group will convene in the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park section of Brooklyn Bridge Park to perform a 77-minute piece that will feature 77 drummers (including the three members of Boredoms), framed by the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Skyline.

Culled from the cream of New York experimental bands like Excepter and Oneida by 77BOADRUM music director Hisham Baroocha (a former member of Black Dice and Lightning Bolt), the 74 volunteer drummers will bash away on full five-piece kits that snake around the elevated Boredoms trio in a spiral formation much like a boa constrictor, hence the title. Boredoms collaborator EYE will guest on electronics, effects and vocals.

The event kicks off at 4 p.m. and also features performances by First Nation and Soft Circle, with Gang Gang Dance spinning records in the interims. Interested persons should RSVP on Vice's website.

And you thought 06/06/06 was sweet.
